The need to disseminate positive message and hope has become essential especially in the backdrop of current quagmire of despair which has besieged Pakistan, said the speakers at the launch ceremony of “Pyam e Umeed” a CSR initiative of PharmEvo Pakistan. The event was addressed by notable figures from the academia, literature and medicine including Pirzada Qasim, vice-chancellor, University of Karachi, Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, vice-chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences, Moin Akhtar, Prof. Sahar Ansari and Khwaja Razi Haider.
Speakers lauded the initiative and praised the vision behind celebrating 2011 as pyam e umeed and termed it the need of the hour. They said Allama Iqbal’s message of “Khudi” and “Subh e Nau” are full of activism and an unending drive for change. “Iqbal’s poetry carries a very high dose of positivity, inspiration and motivation. It propagates positive change and is eternal in its appeal and instigates the mind to stand up and act.
The speakers stressed the need to inspire the society with the glory achieved by our forefathers and to instigate the mind for reclaiming our true position in this world, which is the essence of Iqbal’s philosophy.
Jamshed Ahmed, Director Marketing PharmEvo Pakistan, addressing the gathering said that Payam e Umeed is the continuation of our commitment towards societal uplift. “The campaign conforms to the seriousness with which the company contributes to the society and envisages all aspects of healthcare. The current state of affairs and status quo accentuates the significance of Pyam e Umeed and we hope that it provides a good food for thought and help pull our society and our youth out of prevalent quagmire of despair and hopelessness”, he said.
A short documentary film which revolved around the central theme was also shown and received appreciation from the audiences which consisted of a large number of media and health care professionals. The ceremony ended with inauguration of www.payameumeed.com followed by distribution of calendars and plaques amongst the speakers.
The payam e umeed calendar and website are a part of various activities which are directed towards the youth of Pakistan. It is formulated with a vision of investing in our future i.e. the youth of Pakistan and carries the message of positive thinking and hope.
