Pakistan Lions Youth Council (PLYC) with the mission to provide quality health services and awareness to underserved communities in Pakistan through innovative approaches has initiated to implement Pakistan Initiative for Mothers and Newborns (PAIMAN) in Multan far-flung areas.

  PAIMAN has been funded by USAID and led by JSI with other consortium partners in Pakistan. PLYC awarded with the project for one year along with the other sub-grantees on April 21, 2009.

In the Project Awarding Ceremony arranged by John Snow Incorporate. Dr. Nabeela Ali, Chief of the party-JSI/PAIMAN while awarding the project to PLYC shared that PLYC has remarkably implemented the PAIMAN Project in Khanewal and Dera Ghazi Khan Districts and served the disadvantaged communities.

   She further emphasized that we all are focused to improve mother and newborn health and reduce Maternal Mortality Rate and Infant Mortality Rate in Pakistan by applying various Behavior Change Communication and innovative Strategies. She also added that PAIMAN has contributed a lot along with Health Department Pakistan to ensure quality health care services and reduce MMR & IMR. Dr. Qaiser Javaid, Chairman Pakistan Lions Youth Council thanked all PAIMAN partners and shared that Birthing Station serving under PAIMAN Project in Basic Health Unit UC#22 Khanewal is model and

almost 18 to 20 deliveries are being performed there in each month. Agha Khuram Ali, DCO Multan ensured his maximum cooperation with all the Civil Society Organizations for effective implementation of PAIMAN activities in Multan. Dr. Iftikhar Qureshi, EDO-Health, Dr. Laiq Saddique, Principal Nishtar Medical College, Multan, Dr. Muhammad Shuaib, Director Program and Grants-PAIMAN/JSI, Dr. Munazza Haris, Manager Program and Grants- PAIMAN/JSI, Dr. Fazal Mahmood, Field Manager Operations-South Punjab PAIMAN/JSI and other significant persons participated in the Project Awarding Ceremony.
