Dr. Sania Nishtar receives first global innovators award

The Rockefeller Foundation has honoured Dr. Sania Nishtar, Founder and President of the think tank NGO ‘Heartfile’ and renowned leader in health policy in Pakistan, with

an Innovation Award for her contributions in the realm of global health.

Dr. Sania received the Global Innovators Award at the launch of the First Annual ‘Innovation Forum’ organized by The Foundation to explore challenges facing the world’s poor and vulnerable. The event was held recently in Manhattan.

Sania Nishtar was one of the only four luminaries chosen from around the world for the prestigious Award in recognition for her pioneering work in the field of global health.

The other three recipients were Former US President Bill Clinton who received a lifetime achievement award for Innovation in Philanthropy; Jane Weru, Executive Director of the Kenyan based Akiba Mashinani Trust for developing innovative community led solutions to housing and land tenure problem for the urban poor and

Kiva received the young innovators award for using micro-lending as an education tool.
