Asia’s biggest state-of-art OT Complex with 100-beded ICU & Liver Transplant Center inaugurated at Dow University

Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) first time in public sector, establishes Asia’s biggest state-of-the-art OT Complex with 100-beded ICU and Liver Transplant and Hepato Pancreato Biliary Unit at National Institute of Liver and Gastrointestinal Diseases (NILGID). The Inauguration ceremony was done by Governor Sindh & Chancellor, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan along with Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Masood Hameed Khan.

Dow University establish this international standard Operation Theatre Complex with the name of Postgraduate Medical Sciences Research Centre in a dedicated and purpose built facility exclusively for performing Liver transplantation and other surgeries.

The OT Complex comprises of 9 Operation Theaters, 52 Ventilators and 100 bedded Intensive Care Units (ICU) and recovery rooms covering area of 80,000 sq ft.The complex has been equipped with state of art facilities for Liver Transplant and HepatoPancreato Biliary Unit and Various Specialities for Postgraduate’s training.

Addressing the Ceremony, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan sharing his views on the occasion appreciated the establishment of OT Complex, one of the biggest OT Complex of Asia, a longstanding demand/ need of masses has been fulfilled. He said that establishment of OT Complex is a milestone. He also announced to sponsor initial 10 patients for liver transplantation. This project will directly help the poor patients of the country.

Prof. Masood Hameed Khan informed that today day is very important for Dow University. He said that keeping in view the increasing number of patients day by day, the Dow University established this Operation Theatre Complex for performing different surgeries and liver transplantation.

The ceremony ended with shield distribution amongst Liver Transplant Team and Engineers of OT Complex.
