CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON USAID GLOBAL HEALTH SUPPLY CHAIN PROGRAM WORK PLAN

The Consultative Meeting on USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program Work Plan FY- 2017 for the Government of Punjab was held recently at a local hotel in Lahore. The Meeting aimed to discuss the details with the Health, Population Welfare and Planning Departments, Government of Punjab about the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program’s province focused 2017 work plan activities and to strategize way forward for sustainable strengthening of the FP and MNCH supply chain systems in the province.
Senior officials from both the departments actively participated and provided valuable inputs for aligning work plan activities with provincial government’s vision and priorities. Government of Punjab has high level political commitments, and participation of Minister for Population Welfare and Secretaries and most senior officials from both the departments showed keen interest towards sustainable strengthening public health supply chain management system in the province.
Muhammad Tariq. Country Director of the Program presented the introduction of USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program and Punjab province specific 2017 work plan, indicating Family Planning (FP) and Maternal and Newborn Child Health (MNCH) supply chain priority activities for short, medium and long term technical assistance (TA) to the Health and Population Welfare Departments. He intended significant outcomes on provincial FP and MNCH supply chain management landscape from the systems strengthening perspectives. He also introduced Islamabad as well as Lahore based Program staff and informed about the technical support arrangements.

Mrs. Zakia Shahnawaz Khan, Minister for Population Welfare; Dr. Ismat Tahira, Secretary, Population Welfare Department and Mr. Ali Jan Khan, Secretary, Primary and Secondary Healthcare appreciated and acknowledged the USAID’s long association and support to the Government of Punjab for sustainable strengthening public health supply chain systems of the province. They also praised the current reformative agenda of the Program and endorsed with expression of high commitment to work hand in glove with the Program teams for successful implementation of 2017 work plan activities in the province.
