For public awareness on Dengue Fever, World Health Organization (WHO) has published posters; booklets and other printed literature on Dengue Control and Prevention with the collaboration of Government of Punjab, so that people could easily get to know what kind of steps should be taken to fight Dengue.
The posters and booklets are beneficial to be pasted at public places including offices and especially in schools in order to educated students at large that how they can be at safe place and avoid Mosquito biting by following precautions printed in poster and booklets.
Keeping in mind the best use of these posters in schools, WHO gave a large number ofprinted stuffto Education Department. WHOSurveillance and Dews officer Punjab, Dr. Arsalan recently met EDO, Education Lahore, Pervaizakhtar and handed over 4,000 booklets and 5,000 posters to create awareness about the precautionary measures regarding the dengue virus at school level.
EDO, Education Pervaizakhter thanked WHO for providing valuable printed literature and assured Dr. Arsalan to distribute printed literature in schools of all nine towns of Lahore. We will provide these posters and booklets to the Teachers, who are Master Trainers of Dengue. These trainers will further give training to other teachers and students with the help of literature provided by WHO, said PervaizAkhter.
WHO Pakistan has provided and is continuing to provide technical assistance, standard guidelines, and capacity building in planning to curb Dengue Fever. WHO also trained teachers as Master Trainers at IPH last month, said Dr. Arsalan. We believe that teachers are a great influence on the students; hence they can spread the message on dengue prevention and control most effectively and reach a large number of households, said Dr. Arsalan.
