TAGO shows interest in setting up laptop computer lab in Pakistan

Talal Abu Ghazaleh, Chairman (TAGO) The Arab Organization for Professional Services said that Pakistan economy and its recent thrust towards Industrial and Scientific policy initiatives could best be commercialized, for the mutual benefit of Pakistan and Arab World. He strongly advocated for the formation of Pak Arabia Business Council for the promotion of Pakistan business with the Arab World and through this forum we wanted to bring Arab World closer to Pakistan. This he said during a meeting with the Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati recently at PCSIR rest House Karachi.

He said that he wanted to establish a laptop Computer Industry in Pakistan which shall produce Computer of International Standards, as Pakistan has a large number of computer engineers and have a competitive labor force. Moreover a refurbishing and recycling unit for the used computers will be setup in Pakistan, for providing Cost effective computers for the teaching and commercial purposes.

Talal Abu Ghazaleh said that a number of MOUs in various fields shall also be signed during his next visit to Pakistan.

It was also agreed in meeting that two parties need to work together for establishing and innovation in commercialization center where the research community and industry work together in relationship to commercialization of the invention of Pakistani researchers and making them viable and marketable product.

It was also decided in the meeting that Al -Ghazaleh International will setup and advisory center for the protection of intellectual property rights of overseas and utilizing and capitalizing the Pakistani talents for innovation at the highest international levels.

The Federal Minister for Science and Technology also explained the plans for restructuring and reforms for the sake of greater productivity and excellence. Talal Abu Ghazaleh appreciated this approach and suggested that there should be on going process and continuity for reforms and restructuring in order to meet rapid change of developments.

It is worth mentioning that Abu Ghazaleh is United Nations Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and development succeeding Craig Barret the Chairman of the Intel International and is on visit to Pakistan on the special invitation of the Federal Minster for Science and Technology, Muhammad Azam Khan Swati. The main purpose of the visit was to establish cooperation between Global Alliance and Pakistan particularly in the field of ICT for development in all fields especially in the field of Education, Health Science and Technology and Commerce.

Talking with the media, Talal Abu Ghazaleh said that he was really impressed with the facilities and practical training provided to students at the Institute of Industrial Electronics Engineering (IIEE). He said that his company would establish strategic partnership with IIEE.

Addressing the students at IIEE, Talal Abu Ghazaleh said the philosophy of success in life is not to be afraid of sufferings during the course of learning and not to submit to the failures of life but to make our weakness as an instrument of success. He said to them that you are the future of Pakistan.

Azam Khan Swati informed the media that the government has enhanced the budget of science and technology from Rs.7.07 million to Rs.3.2 Billion and further additional allocation of rupees Rs2.00 billion was expected to be raised to Rs.5.00 billion.

The Minister said that PCSIR was working at a Thar Coal project wit the cost of Rupees One billion. He further said that in order to overcome the energy crises in the country. PCSIR was working on Bio Gas project with the budget of Rupees One billion.

Azam Khan Swati said that the present government was paying full attention and priority on developing energy and renewable energy sectors in the country.

Later on a detailed briefing on the working on the PCSIR was giving to Talal Abu-Ghazaleh. The Federal Minister for the Science and Technology was also present in the briefing.
