Sindh Govt plans to upgrade JPMC, NICVD

The Sindh government has decided to upgrade Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) to provide quality healthcare facilities to the peoples.

Presiding over a meeting recently, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister said the provincial government plan to upgrade the two medical facilities should be executed immediately. A petition is pending with the Sindh High Court in which the superior court was requested not to allow the devolution of the JPMC and the NICVD from the federal government to the provincial government.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Minister said the JPMC and NICVD were devolved to the provincial government in 2010 but some administrative officers of these institutions had challenged the move before the superior court in 2011 and the matter had been pending ever since. He directed the Sindh Advocate General to have the proceedings of the litigation expedited so that a decision could be reached as soon as possible. The provincial government had many development and improvement plans for the JPMC and the NICVD.

Dr. Asim Hussain, Chairman, Provincial Higher Education Commission; Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, Chief Secretary; Syed Mumtaz Shah, Universities and Boards Additional Chief Secretary; Alumdin Bullo, Chief Minister’s Secretary; Syed Iqbal Durrani, Health Secretary, Mir Muhammad Shaikh, Law Secretary and Advocate General Fatah Malik were among those who attended the meeting.
