RAF Call for Proposals – Round 2

Concept papers are requested for research and/or advocacy projects which seek to generate research based evidence to catalyze policy and practice change in Maternal and Newborn Health in Pakistan.

The maximum value of a proposed project can be £500,000. The maximum duration for a project should not exceed 3 years or the life of the fund (i.e. beyond May 2013).
 
Projects will be considered from public institutions, programmes and departments; civil society organisations; academic institutions; private consulting firms and individual consultants. RAF also encourages proposals from consortia linked to international institutions.
 
The proposed initiatives should be in one or more of the two priority topics: 
  • Research on Community Midwives (CMWs) Research on this topic should generate evidence for better functioning, acceptability, management and scale-up of CMW services.
  •  Advocacy on best practices agreed upon in the Karachi declaration (October 2009). Advocacy on best practices agreed upon in the Karachi declaration (October 2009). Advocacy on this topic is expected to promote the uptake of one or more of the five best practices of the Karachi declaration related to maternal and newborn health, through improvement in policies and practices at district, provincial and federal levels.

All concept papers must describe how issues of poverty, social exclusion, and gender will be addressed.

 

The deadline for submission of concept papers for the second round is 23rd June 2010.
