PMDC to ensure high standards in medical education – Prof. Dr. Masood Hameed Khan

 After his election as President PMDC in 134th Council Meeting amid warm welcome by medical fraternity, Prof. Dr. Masood Hameed Khan has called on a press conference to share PMDC future plans for ensuring high standards of medical education in Pakistan.

Earlier, members of the PMDC Council have elected unanimously the Vice Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Masood Hameed Khan as President and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Awais of Kind Edward University as Vice President of the PMDC.

The Council Members have also elected Executive Committee of PMDC consisting of Prof. Dr. Azam H. Yousifiani, VC, Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences Nawabshah, Prof. Dr. M. Hafiz Ullah, VC Khyber Medical College Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Sadat Khan, HoD of Urology Dept, Bolan Medical College Quetta, Prof. Abdul Salam from KPK and Prof. Dr. Khursheed from GDP Islamabad.

Talking about the role of media in promoting awareness in the people the new elected president, Prof. Dr. Masood Hameed Khan said that media have to help in the efforts of PMDC to make it one of the world best medical regulatory authority. He added that there is a big room for improvement in the PMDC and it would be his foremost priority to equip PMDC with state of art technology.

He said that he is in contact with all the stakeholders including the federal government to ensure standards in medical education while adding that all rules and regulations will be enforced in true and spirit to bring about a more positive image of the council.

Talking about future plan in PMDC, he said that PMDC would establish new PMDC cell in Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Nawabshah, Hyderbad, Abbottabad and Muzafarabad to cater the needs and problem of the doctors working in the remote areas of the country.

Moreover, he said that the facilitation of the doctors and all stakeholder would be his top priority and the process of registration of doctors and faculty registration would be streamlined on urgent basis, adding that a new system of software connected to a mobile sim (0304-8734851) would be launched to auto-direct emails of the complaints or suggestions to the concerned authorities including president, vice president and the executive members.

He further said that all the sections would be fully equipped with IT and all the efforts will be made to make PMDC one of the most developed medical regulatory authority.
