Pakistani students are talented but need fair opportunities

Institute of Health Management (IHM) organized a Prize and Certificate Distribution Ceremony on ‘All Pakistan Essay Competition – Are we Civilized?’ recently at its IHM Campus. It was attended by large number contestants’ participants, parents and other dignitaries of different walk of life had attended ceremony. Different institution student besides IHM students also participated and learned and enjoyed from the said activity that how important is to organize an activity for such a huge gathering.

The Chief of the Seminar was Prof. Dr. M. Umer Farooq, Pro Vice Chancellor, DUHS. Ms. Fatima Abdur Rehman (Judge), Ms. Mariam Zahid (Winner of the Competition), Prof. Manzoor A. Memon, Chief Executive/Director IHM, Prof. Muhammad Siddiqui, Program Director, students of IHM and other institutions were also present on the occasion.

The ceremony started with the welcome address by Ms. Madiha in which she apprized the audiences about the IHM programs and facilities being available for its students and faculty members.

Mr. Manzoor A. Memon, Chief Executive/Director IHM welcome the participants, Chief Guest, Judge and expressed the background and importance of the essay writing competition. He said that congratulated the winner students. DUHS is not only providing medical education are also involved in enhancing the talent of their students by organizing such program.

He said that keeping in view, IHM organ essay comp which was very well participated by the students throughout Pakistan. It was very important topic and student enthusiastically take part in it. About 300 students participated in this competition. Keeping in view the talent of our student we organized this competition. Student of our country have good talent but they only need fair and transparent opportunity. We must regularly organize these kind of program that will enhance the talent of our student.

Prof. M. Umer Farooq spoke about the topic of the competition in details and congratulated to the winners of the competition. He also briefed about university initiatives and future plans also. Later he thanks all the participants as well as to the guests and the IHM management for organizing such a colorful event.

He said that the objective of the competition is to encourage creativity and leadership skills through essay writing.  The competition brings out the ability to think quickly, write persuasively and present well-connected ideas while presenting well-connected ideas in a compact fashion. A good writing style will be the key differentiating factor in determining the winners.

Ms. Fatima Abdur Rehman, the Judge expressed her views of the competition, contestants’ original ideas. The student of our country is very passionate for learning. I am pleased to see that DUHS beside medical education is also organizing co curricular activities to enhance the skill of the students. It is very interesting competition and during it learnt a lot.

Ms. Mariam Zahid, the winner of the Competition on the occasion expressed their detailed views with reference to the topic ‘Are we Civilized?. He shared the experience of the competition and discussed the early civilized societies of the world and where we are at present:

Sahib Arshad from General School Karachi, Tajwar Fatima from AES School, Karachi, Areeba Zahir from Mama Parsi School, Karachi, Ujala Shuja from Sindh Medical College, Sabiqa HAsan from Sir Syed University, Karachi, Hamza SAfiq from FFC Grammar School, Mazia Ahmed Malik from Karachi University and Amna Shafi from KMA Girls Degree College.
