Over 450 degree conferred at 10th LUMHS Convocation

Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Jamshoro hold its 10th Convocation to confer degrees upon 450 MBBS students, BDS and postgraduates recently at LUMHS, Jamshoro. The proceeding of the Convocation was presided by Senior Judge of Supreme Court, Justice Amir Hani Muslim.

Justice Amir Hani Muslim sharing his views on the occasion called upon the medical professionals to execute their duty and responsibility with full dedication and devotion and to serve the ailing people with their best medical knowledge and clinical skill with humanistic qualities of integrity, respect and compassion.

Advising the graduates and postgraduates, he said that being the medical professionals, they should examine the patients as fellow human beings and not as a case of illness. He further said that a good doctor is one who not only demonstrates professional competence, but one who manifest personal qualities of patience, maturity and confidence. The medical professional should pay attention towards the patients and respond to their queries to the best of their professional knowledge. Doctors should not attribute their medical problems to old age and equate ageing with mental and physical decline.

Prof. Dr. Noshad A. Shaikh, Vice Chancellor-LUMHS on the occasion informed that the University is hard to produce best graduates there the University has establish a Skill Lab for postgraduate and undergraduate students to provide standardized training and evaluation of basic clinical skills necessary in physician patient encounter. The Skill lab would be starts by January 2012.

Earlier, Justice Amir Hani conferred degrees and medals to the graduates and postgraduates. A total of 429 degrees of MBBS, 82 of BDS, 98 of nursing and 138 of post-graduation were distributed.
