NTP’s 51st Inter-Provincial Meeting Q-3rd 2015

National TB Control Program (NTP) organized its 51st Quarterly Inter-Provincial Meeting (IPM) Q-3rd 2015 at a local hotel in Islamabad. The Meeting held to review the progress of TB care activities and future plans of the Program. The Meeting was attended by NTP Manager, all PTP/RTP Managers, Global Fund Coordinators, Program and Technical Officers, M & E staff, PRL focal persons, technical & implementing partners of the TB Program including Principal/Sub recipients from Global Fund.

 

The first day of the Meeting started with the Welcome Address by Dr. Ejaz Qadeer, National Manager NTP. In his address, he said that the human resource and capital is the biggest assets of TB Control Program. In Pakistan, the TB Control Program is one of the largest program and technical sound. Talking about Global Fund grants and its mechanism, he informed that GF has transformed its mechanism to new funding model system for continuity of projects to projects. Keeping in view the new funding model, there is need to introduce programmatic interventions to achieve good results. He further said that the intervention in TB control is a good opportunity to think beyond the limit. The current interventions need to be implemented and the introduction of modern technique is very necessary. He stressed to all the provincial managers to strengthen their efforts to over the challenges. In the end, he congratulated and appreciated the efforts of all the provincial managers in the fight against TB.

The welcome address meeting was followed by NTP TB Progress Review and Data analysis by Dr. Basharat Javed, National Technical Officer, NTP followed by a group work by all provincial TB teams including PTPs and partners was conducted followed by a presentation from Dr. Abdul Khaliq Ghauri, SPM-PR on the rationale, focused areas, interventions/activities and objective of reprogramming to utilize the GF saving effectively and to find additional missed TB cases through different approaches..

On the second day of the Meeting, Dr. Sabira Tahseen present an “Introduction to web based new monitoring tool for microscopy network” for effective and efficient surveillance in the country.  Dr. Muhammad Tariq – NPO AJK, Dr. Saleem Uddin – Program Manager GB, Dr. Sartaj Khan – Program Manager FAT, Dr. Najeeb Durrani – DHO ICT, Dr. Ahmad Wali – PTO Balochistan, Dr. Akmal Naveed, Dr. Abdul Majeed – PTP Manager Punjab and Dr. Amanullah Ansari – PTO Sindh gave presentation on Reprogramming.
