Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission established LINAR as its fifth nuclear medical center at Larkana in year 1978. This Institute is spread over an area of 9.5 acres of land and provides diagnostic and treatment facilities to cancer patients with latest sophisticated medical equipments.
LINAR caters for about 25000 (twenty five thousand) patients per year now. Major Departments include following:-

RADIOTHERAPY DEPARTMENT
This department equipp-ed with sophisticated equipments like Cobalt60 Tele-therapy Machine, Simulator Machine, Computerized Treatment Planning System (TPS) and Brachytherapy Unit for cancer patients, Radioiodine Therapy for CA Thyroid, Radiotherapy.
DAY CARE UNIT
for patients receiving chemotherapy is also available at this Institute.
ONCOLOGY WARD
This hospital has 50 bedded Air-conditioned indoor oncological wards alongwith four paying rooms where patients are admitted for provision of supportive medical care through well organized and disciplined Nursing Staff besides one special shielded isolated room for patients receiving high doses of I-131 therapy .
NUCLEAR MEDICINE DEPARTMENT
This department is well equipped with Dual Head Gamma Cameras and Exercise Tolerance Test (ETT) Machine where facilities of Hormonal Assay:- TFT (T3,T4,TSH) Serum FSH, LH, Prolectin, Serum Cortisol,Tumor Markers like B-HCG, Alpha Feto-Protein and Thyroglobulin, Radio isotopic imaging, Thyroid Scan, DTPA Renal Scan, DMSA Renal Scan, Bone Scan, Cardiac Scan, Hepatobiliary Scintigraphy, Liver-Spleen Scan, Isotopic Hysteriosalpingiography Brain Scan, Radionuclide Daryocystography and Perfusion Lung Scan are provided.
BREAST CARE CLINIC
In order to diagnose breast cancer at the early stages a well equipped breast care clinic under supervision of Professional Doctors and Scientific Staff is also available at LINAR.
WALK-IN-CLINIC
To facilitate undiagnosed patients referred from different Hospitals is also available at this institute for screening and proper diagnosis of cancer or otherwise.
RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT
This department has complete range of radiological imaging like CR System / X-Ray, Doppler Ultrasound Machine for evaluation of tumors, Mammography Machine for screening and detection of early Breast Cancer.
MEDICAL PHYSICS DEPARTMENT
This department at LINAR is responsible for radiation protection of staff and patients and plays vital role in treatment of patients and quality control of equipment.
TEACHING & TRAINING
- Lectures are being delivered to final year of MBBS students of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) /Chandika Medical Collge, Larkana
- Internship in medical field for Sindh University, Mehran University Jamshoro and Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.
GENERAL SERVICES DIVISION (GSD)
This Division is headed by qualified Sr. Engineer having expert team of electronic, electrical, mechanical, bio medical engineering and civil for extending full technical support for maintenance of bio medical engineering / allied equipments in timely manner to ensure uninterrupted medical services to the patients of this institute.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Doctors and Scientists at LINAR are actively involved in research in the field of radiotherapy and nuclear medicine to keep them aware about latest technology introduced for better treatment of cancer patients. Multiple research papers have been published in national and international journals of high repute.
CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAMS
Management of LINAR is highly committed for disseminating information to general public regarding awareness about cancer as it is mostly treatable if diagnosed at an early stage. In this regard a number of events are being organized by this institute in collaboration with Larkana Cancer Society by arranging lectures at different hospitals of adjoining areas, arranging walks on World Cancer Day every year as well as distributing informative material/ bruchers and leaflets to general public.
WELFARE PROGRAMS
In order to provide welfare support to the poorest patients Larkana Cancer Society has been registered with Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh in 2001 which is fully functional and provides anti cancer medicines to non affording patients enriched three times diet to the patients admitted in indoor wards and other essential items to facilitate the patients. This society also provides anti cancer medicines to general public on highly discounted rates through its pharmacy located within the premises of LINAR.
FUTURE DEVELOP-MENT PROGRAMS
Keeping in view emerging needs in the field of Oncological & Nuclear Medicine for proper treatment of cancer patients latest equipment like LINEAR Accelerator, Cobalt-60 Teletherapy Machine, Dual Head SPECT Gamma Camera, CT Simulator , Estab-lishment of PCR Lab Construction of Audi-torium Hall & Construc-tion of Aashyana are to be added in this institute under approved PC-1 of Rs. 433 Million to facilitate the patients of this institute.
