 To pay tribute to the Karachi-based Diplomats, Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) organized an Iftar dinner in their honour at a local hotel in Karachi. KCCI is maintaining this tradition for organizing Iftar Dinner for Diplomats since last several years.

Anjum Nisar, President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, speaking at the occasion expressed heartfelt gratitude and compliments to the members of Diplomatic Corps for the support and cooperation on the matters of bilateral trade. He expressed that bilateral trade play a fundamental role in the economies of countries and it aims to keep trade deficits at minimum. In the era of globalization, better trade ties between countries are need of the day. He appreciated that the Embassies, Consulates and Trade Mission of various countries functioning in Pakistan have played a proactive role in the development of bilateral trade. He also articulated his thanks to the Consul Generals and Deputy High Commissioners of the friendly countries who regularly participate in KCCI’s “My-Karachi, Oasis of Harmony Exhibition” every year.

Anjum Nisar with optimism expressed his desire and hope that the Diplomats will continue their benevolent support and efforts to enhance bilateral trade and relationship between their countries and Pakistan. He also thanked the Diplomatic Corps for support and cooperation extended to him as President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry.    

Earlier, Anjum Nisar, President-KCCI warmly welcomed the diplomats vis-à-vis Consul Generals/ Deputy High Commissioners, Commercial Counsellors/ Attachés and Trade Officers of Iran, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Qatar, Oman, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Japan, Korea, France, Indonesia, Vietnam, Switzerland, Australia, Rwanda, Russia and Germany in the Iftar Dinner.   

Siraj Kassam Teli, Chairman, Businessmen Group and Former President of KCCI, speaking at the occasion, expressed his gratitude and compliments to the members of Diplomatic Corps for extending support and cooperation to KCCI and the Business Community to enhance and cement the bilateral trade ties. He also appreciated the Diplomats for their efforts to exchange the trade information and exchanging trade delegation.

M. Arif Balgamwala, Chairman, Diplomatic Affairs Sub-committee-KCCI on his behalf and on the behalf of KCCI conveyed high regards and compliments to the members of Diplomatic Corps for visiting KCCI and participating in the Diplomatic Affairs Sub-committee meetings for providing productive input to enhance bilateral trade. He also appreciated the swift issuance of business visas to KCCI members by Consulates of various countries functioning at Karachi.

Anjum Nisar, on the occasion, while speaking to the Press informed that in his tenure this year highest-ever number of Diplomats visited KCCI to discuss the matters of bilateral trade. He said that in Diplomatic Affairs Sub-committee meetings matters of bilateral trade in context to its future prospects were largely discussed with Mr. Robert W. Gibson, British Deputy High Commissioner,  Fethi Etem, Consul General of Turkey,  Dr. Christian Brecht, Consul General of Germany, Akinori Wada, Consul General of Japan, Dr. Kyoumg Yong Kim, Consul General of Korea, Martin Bienz, Consul General of Switzerland, V.S. Sidath Kumar, Consul General of Sri Lanka and Nguyen Hong Tien, Commercial Counsellor of  Vietnam.

Anjum Nisar informed that during the year Saleh Ahmed Al-Jawarneh, Ambassador of Jordan, Mourad Bourehla, Ambassador of Tunisia, Adam Hassan, High Commissioner of Maldives, Mrs. Mishi Masika Miwatsahu, High Commissioner of Kenya, Timothy George, High Commissioner of Australia, Anders Hougaard, Ambassador of Denmark, Masoud Mohammad Zamani, Consul General of Iran, Mustakim, Former Consul General of Indonesia, Mohammad Khalid Abdur Razzak, Consul General of Malaysia, Ms. Marilyn Denton, Senior Trade Commissioner of Canada and Stephen G. Fakan, Consul General of USA visited KCCI and discussed socio-economic, geo-political and bilateral trade affairs.
