German Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry Punjab Region inaugurated

Esteemed members of the German Foreign Office in Pakistan and the Punjab Government’s collaboration to promote economic wellbeing and progress for both countries

Esteemed members of the German Foreign Office in Pakistan including the German Ambassador, Ms. Ina Lepel and the Secretary of Foreign Office, Mr. Stephen Steinlein were joined by her Excellency, Ms. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, and the Minister of Finance Punjab along with the senior administration of the German Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The inauguration of the GPCCI Punjab regions opened a new chapter of collaboration and cooperation between the two nations. The event was sponsored by renowned German companies currently active in Pakistan. In particular, Siemens Healthcare (Pvt.) Ltd. who has always been a firm advocate for cordial relations between the countries was the Platinum sponsor for the event.

This initiative is a prime example of the intentions of the countries to promote bilateral relations between the two nations and provide business opportunities to the German companies willing to invest in Pakistan. Pakistan has a rich pool of able and willing workers, who with proper training and latest technologies can really bring about a positive change in the economic as well as social structure of the country.

Mr. Stephen Steinlein, the Secretary of Foreign Office in Pakistan, highlighted the fact that recent years have seen almost 50% increase in trade between Pakistan and Germany. He further expressed his desire for this trend to continue and believes that this new initiative will provide a nucleus for fruitful relationships between the two countries.

Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, the Minister of Finance Punjab and the Chief Guest for the auspicious occasion, enlightened the audience regarding the objectives of GPCCI in Punjab. She explained how this Chamber would provide a platform for industrial development, vocational training and cultural sharing between the countries. She claimed that her objective is to strive for 7-8% growth rate in Pakistan. She also declared that the Punjab Government is taking every step necessary to root out the problems regarding energy crisis and terrorism within the country. This will provide an encouraging and safe environment for foreign investors.

The speeches from the esteemed guests were followed by the inauguration ceremony. Thereafter, Mr. Stephen Steinlein and Ms. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha distributed shields and souvenirs to the sponsors. After lunch, B2B meetings commenced wherein companies and investors engaged in fruitful discussions to identify new opportunities of business and trade. We, as Siemens Healthcare (Pvt.) Ltd. welcome such initiatives and hope that this will create a renewed atmosphere of hope and trust in the country.
