Educational institutions celebrate Independence Day

The 68th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated on 14th August 2014 in various educational institutions with national zeal and enthusiasm. Several events were arranged in various colleges and universities in Karachi.

Celebrating the Independence Day, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) organized a National Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held at Ojha Campus. Acting Vice Chancellor, Dow University Prof. Umer Farooq, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Junaid Ashraf, Principal, Dow Medical College, Prof. M. Masroor, Principal, Dow International Medical College, senior faculty members and administrative officers, heads of various faculties and departments performed the Flag Hoisting with special prayers for peace and prosperity of the country.

The Ceremony started with National Anthem which was followed by Flag-hoisting by Prof. M. Umer Farooq. Addressing the Ceremony, Prof. M. Umer Farooq paid tributes to martyrs, workers and leaders of Pakistan movement whose sacrifices paved way for our independence. He also reminded the collective sacrifices rendered by thousands of people for achieving independence. Later on, Prof. M. Umer Farooq along with senior faculty members distributed Independence gift and cash prizes to the TB patients.

Karachi University (KU) hosted the Independence Day walk, which was presided by its Prof. Muhammad Qaiser, Vice Chancellor, KU. Student Advisor Dr. Ansar Rizwi, Campus Security Advisor, Dr. Khalid Iraqi, Registrar, faculty deans, faculty members, and a large number of enthusiastic students accompanied him. A Student Organization also organised a cake cutting ceremony, with a 500 pounds cake in front of the admin block. They even hung a 200-feet long flag of Pakistan from the Administration Block to Arts Lobby.

The University of Sindh, Jamshoro, celebrates Independence Day in its campuses. The celebration have been finalised by the university management. Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Abida Taherani was the chief guest at the flag hoisting ceremony, which was also attended by all deans of faculties, faculty members, officers, employees and students of the varsity. After the flag hoisting has been carried out, other events which include tug of war and other sports activities will also take place.

 

The Independence Day in Sindh University was celebrated with national zeal and enthusiasm today. Nadir Ali Mugheri, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abida Taherani was the chief guest at the flag hoisting ceremony which is scheduled to be held at Hyder Bux Pavilion of the varsity. The ceremony was also attended by all Deans of faculties, faculty members, officers, employees and students of the university.

A function, jointly organized by Hamdard Public School and Hamdard University and comprised hoisting of national flag, national songs, tableaus and speeches was held on the occasion of 68th independence day at Bilawal Stadium, Madinat al-Hikmah, Karachi. Speaking on the occasion, after hoisting the national flag, the Chief guest and Director General, Private Schools Sindh, Mansoob Siddiqui said that full participation of young generation in the independence day’s function was tantamount to a brighter future of our homeland. He advised to teacher to give full attention to the character building and training of the students. Dr. Waliuddin, acting Vice Chancellor, Hamdard University said that after getting to know the ideas of students through their speeches, delivered in this function, if there was any disappointment about the future of the country in his mind, has now been vanished and he realised that there was need to worry about the future of the country as it will be in safe hands in coming days.
