Dow Inst. of Cardiology inaugurated at Dow University

Governor Sindh & Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan along with Vice Chancellor, DUHS Prof. Masood Hameed Khan and senior faculty members of the University today inaugurated Dow Institute of Cardiology (DIOC) and Installation of Gas Power Plant at a Ceremony to mark (12) Twelve Years Anniversary of Dow University of Health Sciences today at DUHS Ojha Campus.

The Dow Institute of Cardiology has been established at Ojha Campus at tertiary level to provide cardiac care services under one roof for high???????? quality specialized comprehensive and affordable care to all class of patients having best possible cardiac diagnostic and treatment facilities. The department of Dow Institute of Cardiology will include Preventive Cardiology, Clinical Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Paediatric Cardiology, Cardiology Electrophysiology, Cardiac Surgery, Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery & Anesthesiology.

Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan sharing his views on the occasion said that with the establishment of DIOC, a longstanding demand has been fulfilled. He said that establishment of OT Complex is a milestone. Need was also felt for services to be provided to patients suffering from Cardiac problems. Established public sectors centres like NICVD, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases have been providing affordable services to a large part of this mega city yet the people living in areas like Gulshan, Gulistan-e-Johar, Malir, Safoora Goth have to travel long distances to avail these services.

He further said that Today by inaugurating Dow Institute of Cardiology, the university is fulfilling its promise to the society. The problems of a mega city which is growing at a rapid pace in an unplanned manner are sometimes beyond control. One area which although has improved in the last few years yet still can create interruptions in providing quality health care is the electricity supply, as all equipment’s are dependent upon it. The university has multiple standby power generators to provide uninterrupted electricity, yet today by operationalizing a One Megawatt Gas Turbine Generator is a leap forward. This shows the forward planning of the Dow University team. It is leaving no stone unturned to accomplish its goal for providing health care to the citizens of this province.

Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, VC DUHS briefed the audience about the accomplishment of the University since its inception.
