Diarrhea Epidemics in Pakistan Demands Continued Attention

Amybact Responded with Amybact DMEP 2014, a series of Diarrhea Management Education Programs throughout Pakistan, February to June 2014

Unfortunately, diarrhea maintains a leadership role in mortality and morbidity of Pakistani children despite decades of concerted efforts and special programs. To mitigate the imprints of diarrhoea in Pakistan, ICI Life Sciences Pharmaceuticals division launched a campaign of Educational Programs under the umbrella of her flagship Probiotic Brand: Amybact. With all the zeal and passion throughout the high-tides of diarrhea season in Pakistan (February to June 2014), a series of Amybact DMEPs were organized from Khyber to Karachi. All in all there were 15 programs carried out in different cities of Pakistan including but not limiting to Swat, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Larkana, Hyderabad and Karachi. The campaign covered not less than 450 doctors belonging to all the major Paediatric Institutes and Hospitals across Pakistan. Some of them are Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar, Ayub Medical Teaching Hospital, P.I.M.S. Islamabad, Saidu Hospital Swat, Children Hospital Lahore, Chandka Medical College & Hospital Larkana, Allied Hospital Faisalabad, S.G.H. Karachi and many others.

All of the programs were started with Tilawat-e-Quran by ICI’s Managers of respective regions followed by the introduction of ICI’s current standing and services in Paediatric field. Afterwards the events were lead by the presentations of Pediatricians who were expert in the field of diarrhea management and probiotics. Some of the well renowned doctors included, Assistant Professor Dr Jan Muhamamd Afridi, Dr. Bilal Khan, Prof Dr. Nadeem Khawar, Associate Professor Dr. Ihsanul Haq, Assistant Professor Dr Fazal-e-Akbar, Professor Dr. Khursheed Ahmed Abbasi, Associate Professor Dr. Arbab Ali Jonejo, Professor Dr Inkisar Ali, Associate Professor Dr. Azhar Munir, Dr. Maqbool Hussain, Dr. Arif Waheed, Associate Professor Dr. Yasmeen Memon, Assistant Professor Dr. Sajid Mustafa, Professor Dr. Hina Ayesah and others.

Amybact’s product & commercial presentations was also the part of DMEP programs. These presentations were delivered by product manager Dr. Muhammad Zeeshan who endorsed the importance of Amybact in the management of Diarrhoea. The concept although in its growing phase, was very well appreciated by the doctors.

Furthermore, to promote the role of ICI Life Sciences as a partner who facilitates and supports educational activities, graceful shields on Amybact DMEP 2014 program shield were also awarded to the speakers. The events then lead to formal lunches and dinners organized by the regional ICI team. Overall the Amybact Diarrhea Management Education Programs were highly appreciated by the KOLs, DMEP Speakers and Participating Doctors, which thanked ICI Life Sciences for extending her cooperation and supporting in continuous medical education and practices.
