Chief Minister calls for linkage of Sindh HEC with field organisations, Chambers

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, presiding over the first meeting of Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC) has probed to link the SHEC with Industries, Production sectors, Chamber of Commerce & Industries and other professional bodies to ensure a meaningful and job- oriented education to the youth. Furthermore, the Commission’s financial, recruitment and accreditation rules 2014 would be finalised within a week’s time to regulate its financial business.

He directed the officer’s concerned to go through the proposed rules submitted in the meeting on urgent basis so that the same could be approved within a week’s time. He said after the 18th Constitutional Amendment the Education Department has been devolved to the provinces.

He further informed that Sindh Government is spending an amount of Rs.5 billion to meet the universities’ financial requirements of urgent nature. Rs.57.722 million have also been provided to the management of SHEC for strengthening its establishment. During the last 6 years nine universities have been established in public sector in the province.
