Prof. Hussain Bux Kolachi, Chairman, 8th Convocation Media Committee LUMHS, Jamshoro – Sindh

The 8th Convocation of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS) Jamshoro was held in the Jamshoro campus on December 14, 2009 in which the MBBS batch 2008, BDS batch 2008, Nursing batch 2008 and Postgraduates of various disciplines including MPH were awarded degrees. The ceremony was chaired by the Prof. Noshad Ahmed Shaikh, Vice Chancellor LUMHS, whereas the Chief Guest was Prof. Ali Mohammad Ansari, Member Syndicate LUMHS and Guest of Honor was retired Prof. Nasira Hyder.

The Convocation was held in Lateef Hall at LUMHS Jamshoro. All the academic council members, professors, chairman in their gowns were seated on the podium. The Gold medals were awarded to Dr. Madiha Shah as Best graduate in MBBS and another Gold medal of best graduate was awarded to Dr. Madiha Iqbal Memon in full clapping and applaud of the students and faculty. Dr. Madiha Shah received 7 gold medals securing 1st position in MBBS subjects while Dr. Madiha Iqbal received 8 gold medals in various BDS subjects.

Prof. Ali Mohammad Ansari on the occasion said that knowledge is now spreading not only through the blackboards but through the superhighways of information technology where 1 Kg of air can transmit the knowledge which is more than the 10 university libraries.

Prof. Nasira Hyder said that the Doctors must take care of humanity and must remember the Almighty Allah because every thing is temporary and mortal. She advised the girls graduates to take basic medical subjects as she has taught the whole life Anatomy with dignity.

Later on, the Vice Chancellor awarded 243 degrees to the registered graduates. On the occasion Prof. Noshad A. Shaikh advised the graduates to keep high standards of medical profession in their house job and future medical practice. He announced girls hostel for 500 girls with cafeteria, library and other facilities. He also announced on behalf of Secretary Health Syed Hashim Raza that the House Job will be started without delay for all the graduates in February with full stipend.

He further said that LUMHS graduates are shinning in every field but they should concentrate on research and aim to get training where ever the opportunities are available. The Higher Education Commission support for scholarship is available.

The top 3 positions in MBBS were secured by Subhi Mahmood S/o Subhi Nassar, Ahmed Ali Danish S/o Shoukat Hussain Khan Pathan, Madiha Shah D/o Sharafuddin Shah Syed.

The top 3 positions in BDS were secured by Madiha D/o Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Hazem Khaled S/o Salman Matter, Wajiha Azam D/o Malik Muhammad Azam. A souvenir and convocation kit was distributed amongst the registered graduates.

The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Shahzad Laghari Chairman Organizing committee.
