551 graduates conferred degrees in LUMHS 18th Convocation

As many as 356 MBBS, 83 BDS graduates and 112 postgraduates were conferred with the degrees in the 18th Annual Convocation of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro held recently at its campus. Honorable Pro-Chancellor and Minister of Health Sindh, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho presided over the Convocation as the Chief Guest. The Convocation was attended by large number of dignitaries, academic council members, professors, chairmans, HoDs, lecturers, parents and Students.

Addressing the graduates/postgraduates the Prof. Bikha Ram Devrajani, Vice Chancellor LUMHS congratulated the graduates and their parents and also reminded all graduates of their responsibilities. He also recounted the progress of the University since its inception and highlighted the developments of the University since its inception.

He said that Bilawal Medical College for boys has been recently recognized with PM&DC and ready to commence MBBS degree program for 100 male graduate doctors each year. The college standardizes high levels of teaching facility whereas it caters all requirements to be recognized as a Medical college under Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. He appreciated the efforts of Prof Ikram din Ujjan and his team for his exclusive service and day night efforts to accomplish this goal.

He further informed that looking into the need of utilizing different medical equipments at various government hospital, a school of technologies has also been established to train the students in the field of MRI, CT scan, and ultrasound so that the shortage of such technical staff could be overcome immediately. Currently, 56 students are enrolled in the first batch for this course. This course is temporary catered at Bilawal Medical College which is indeed not an appropriate place to run that course and therefore we have already submitted a demand for a separate building for this project to the concern department of government of Sindh.

Furthermore, the University has planned to commence BSc program in Forensic sciences to cater law enforcement system, medico-legal cases.

Later on, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho along with Prof. Bikha Ram Devrajani awarded degrees to the graduating doctors.
