300 factory workers screened for TB

About 300 factory workers were screened for TB diagnosis and treatment at the first TB Screening Camp organized by Stop TB Pakistan at a factory of SITE Association of Industry (SAI). The screening camp was organized in collaboration with the Community Health Services (CHS) under the supervision of Dr. Syed Sharaf Ali Shah, Vice Chairman, Stop TB Pakistan, Dr. Iqtidar Ahmed, General Secretary and Member Dr. Shaheena Qayyum.

Stop TB Pakistan (National Partnership) is affiliated with Stop TB partnership, Geneva, Switzerland and is making efforts in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as National and Provincial TB Control Programs to end TB by the year 2030.  It identifies TB cases among factory workers by providing diagnostic and treatment services at their doorsteps without any cost.

The free of cost TB screening camp was held at the SAI member factory after a presentation to the members of SAI with a view to get their support vis-à-vis diagnostic and treatment services for TB-affected factory workers.  Similar free of cost Stop TB’s Camps will also be held at other member factories of SAI and such factories will also be issued certificates of TB-free factories by the WHO.

First Stop TB Screening Camp at SITE was witnessed by Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, president, SITE Association of Industry along with Abdul Rasheed, Senior Vice President, M. Saleem Nagaria, Vice President and Abdul Hadi, EC Member of SAI.
