Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) is very much delighted over the Sindh Health Commission Bill ordinance, Thalesemia Prevention Bill ordinance, The Mental Health Bill ordinance being promulgated in the Province of Sindh by Honorable Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan. This Health Commission Bill was a dream of PMA which has finally come true as an ordinance. PMA has been striving for the formulation and passage of this bill for the last one decade.
PMA expresses its appreciation and gratitude to Honorable caretaker Minister of Health Dr. Junaid Ali Shah who took keen interest in solving the long awaited health issues in a very short duration.
As we all know that the Health Delivery System in the country has been in poor shape since a long. Day in and day out there are incidences of violence in different Public and Private Hospitals resulting loss of lives and property. There is no Law in the country to ascertain the reality behind the death of a patient at any health care center. In case of any death in the hospital it is difficult to know with certainty whether it is natural or due to negligence of the doctors and the hospital staff.
This ordinance addresses the issues of registration, licensing, accreditation of hospital and clinics, issues of quackery, doctors and patients rights. While tireless efforts of Honorable Governor Dr.Ishratul Ebad Khan, Health Minister Dr. Junaid Ali Shah, Health Secretary Dr.Suresh Kumar, we must not forget the efforts of late Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah, a Life Member of PMA Karachi and Member of Executive Committee for the Sindh health commission bill.
